PERSATUAN AIKIKAI MALAYSIA - New Committee Members for 2012/13
Recently on 25th December 2011, the Annual General Meeting for Persatuan Aikikai Malaysia was held at the residence of Hj Muhamad Haneef Ali (President of Aikikai Malaysia then).A new committee members was elected for 2012/13 as follows:-

AIKIDO MINI SEMINARS by ZAINUDDIN SENSEI - 11-13 NOV. 2011
A series of Aikido Mini Seminars will be held this coming weekend from 11 to 13 Nov. 2011. The seminar shall be conducted by Sensei Zainuddin Abd Khalic (4th Dan) from Sabah. He is the former President of Aikikai Malaysia and also the Founder of IIUM Aikido Club in the early 90's.
The seminar schedule is as below:
Seminar 1: Friday, 11 Nov.'11 at Bangi Dojo (8.30pm-10.30pm)
Seminar 2: Saturday, 12 Nov.'11 at Kelab Darul Ehsan (KDE), Ampang (8.30pm-10pm)
Seminar 3: Sunday, 13 Nov.'11 at Bangi Dojo (10am-12 noon) - for 2nd kyu & above.
Fee: RM20 per session (members) & RM40 per session (non-members)

JOINT AIKIDO TRAINING WITH KENSHUKAI DOJO & MALDIVES.. 1 NOV'11
A joint training session was held at our dojo with Lee Sensei & team from Kenshukai dojo in Puchong and Ismail Rafeeq Sensei from Maldives.We were very fortunate to have these two guests to our dojo in the spirit of Aikido!

AIKIDO DEMO & WORKSHOP @ SM PRESINT 8, PUTRAJAYA - 31 OCT.'11
A successful 3 hours Aikido Demo & Workshop was conducted at SM Presint 8, Putrajaya (Sekolah Bestari). The students loved and enjoyed the Demo as they participated in the workshop as well. There were about 50-60 students involved from Form 1 to form 3.Thank you very much for those who has participated and Puan Suguna who invited us to the school.

My Aikido Dojo on Astro Oasis Channel!
On 29th Sep. 2011, My Aikido dojo was selected to be featured in one episode for Astro's latest reality show called "Ustazah Pilihan".. this program of selecting the best Ustazah will be aired on Astro Oasis Channel in October 2011.
During the filming at My Aikido Dojo, the episode is about the Ustazah learning martial art & self defense..

UPCOMING PROGRAMS at MyAIKIDO DOJO
1. Bulan Ramadhan
Latihan/kelas (Dewasa) hanya sekali seminggu iaitu pada setiap hari Jumaat malam (10.30pm - 11.30pm) selepas solat tarawih. Tarikh akhir latihan dlm bulan Ramadhan adalah 19 Ogos dan latihan pada 26 Ogos diganti pada 20 Ogos jam 9 pagi. Kelas kanak2 adalah seperti biasa pada setiap hari Sabtu 10.30am.
Kita juga akan mengadakan satu Majlis Berbuka Puasa & solat tarawih bersama2 pada 13 Ogos (Sabtu). Semua ahli sekeluarga dijemput hadir. Makanan akan disediakan tetapi ahli2 juga digalakkan utk membawa juadah bagi menambah hidangan buka puasa (pot-luck).
2. Aikido Seminar & Upgrading kedua tahun 2011
Satu Seminar & Upgrading utk kanak2 & dewasa di jadual akan di adakan pada 15 Okt. 2011 (Sabtu) bertempat di MyAikido Dojo, Bangi. Calon2 Upgrading dan Yuran akan diberitahu kelak. Semua ahli digalakkan utk menghadiri seminar tersebut yg akan dikendalikan oleh Sensei Suzalie, 4th Dan (Penasihat Teknikal MyAikido) dan beberapa Sensei dari luar, Insyaallah.
3. Demonstrasi Aikido di UKM
Pihak UKM telah menjemput MyAikido Dojo utk sekali lagi membuat demonstrasi Aikido pada majlis Konvokesyen di UKM pada 24 Sep. 2011. Oleh itu kami mengalu-alukan pada sesiapa (dewasa & kanak2) yg ingin turut serta dlm Demo Aikido berkenaan. Sila berikan nama anda sebelum 31 Ogos.

My Aikido Dojo_ 2nd Health Awareness Campaign & Aikido Demo ! _ 10 July 2011
Yes! We had a fun weekend during the 1st Health Awareness Campaign at My Aikido dojo on 26 June 2011..
..And we're gonna have it again this coming Sunday,10 July 2011.
There will be a Free Health checks (BMI, Body composition, glucose level & blood pressure) and Blood Test for only RM90! On top of that the Instructors are going to do a 20 min demonstration of Aikido martial art + self-defense techniques..

Aikido Kids Demo at Bukit Kiara Equestrian Resort - 15 May 2011

Cross-Dojo Seminar and Suzalie Sensei's Farewell Dinner
On the 16th of April, a cross dojo seminar and a farewell barbecue dinner was conducted in MyAikido Dojo, Bangi to honour our ex-dojo cho, Suzalie Sensei. He is leaving KL and going back to Sabah, his home town and will be taking a lecturing position there. Yusuf Sensei was nominated as our new dojo cho at the farewell dinner. Good luck to both Suzalie Sensei and Yusuf Sensei!

The meaning of harmony
A few moons ago, Aikikai Malaysia conducted an upgrading exercise for 3rd Dans. Both Suzalie Sensei and Zainuddin Sensei were there strutting their stuff (They were taking their 4th dan). One of the questions asked by during the exam was this: What is the meaning of harmony? Both Zainuddin Sensei and Suzalie Sensei has their own intrepetation. This article is to convey mine (just in case I'm getting
the same question in my 3rd Dan exam :) )
Ironically, this is not the first time I heard this question. 1992, Sekolah Izzuddin Shah (my high school), Science Class. It was the first science class of the year and I was tasked to explain to the class how the body neural function works.
Being a smart alec that I am, I regurtitate what I read from the text book and said " The body's neural system works in harmony". The teacher then ask, "What do you mean by harmony?"
Gulp!
The teacher smiled back and explain how the neural system work as different sub-components. Each sub-components has its own role to play, and yet together, they form a system that work as one.
Sure...
It was hard for me to grasp that until a few moons ago when I was tasked to teach weapon in our local dojo (MyAikido). Now, I just love doing jo. In my class, we use a lot of jo and from time to time, we learn 'kumijo' , first introduced to us by Dr. Goldsbury Sensei when he visited us last year.
When people say that weapon intensifies your 'ki' or energy, they are not kidding. Practicing kumijo again and again and and you will find that the uke and nage , their mind and movement, their jos and bokkens even the tatamis and the dojo itself creates a synchronized orchestrated system that is both beautiful and lethal. And that, my friend, to me, is the very definition of harmony. When everything plays its part to create a choreograph of clockwork precision system.
The question is, what is fueling this 'harmony'? What keeps things in harmony? With the body neural system, the fuel is pulses of electricity within the neurons. With clockwork, it's the winded spring (or electrically charged quartz in modern clocks and watches), in a music orchestra, it's the conductor and musical notes. In aikido, I believe what is fueling the this harmony is the 'ki'. When two aikidokas are at play, especially when weapons are involved, they exchange ki with each other. An attack is a projection of ki and a counter attack is an absorbtion of ki. The projection of ki and the absorbtion ensure the smoothness of connection (zahnshin) between the uke and nage.
And thus, to me at least, this defines aikido itself. In my book, aikido is define as such: aikido is a system, a way, in which, through the exchange of ki energy, the aikidoka, his opponent, his surrounding become one (blended , i.e. the state of musubi) just like an orchestra of different musicians become a single sweet symphony under a single conductor.
